We continue Photography week, a week long celebration of photography in conjunction with the launch of Bethany Salvon’s new ebook Getting Out of Auto. Today I am pleased to show off Christy Woodrow! Aside from being a talented and accomplished photographer, Christy is a surfer and photographer who runs the inspiring travel blog OrdinaryTraveler.com with her partner in crime, Scott. They provide tips to others who want to fulfill their dreams of travel, no matter what situation they are in. You can also follow them on Facebook or view their travel photography portfolio. After practicing photography and taking classes on and off for about 15 years, I recently decided to take the plunge and focus my efforts on building a photography business. I have always had dreams of making photography my career, but usually my fear of not being good enough would hold me back. After getting my first paid architectural photography job, I haven’t looked back and couldn’t be happier about it. Photography has helped to shape the way I look at the world in that I look at things differently. I’m constantly noticing the way light is hitting a subject even when I don’t have a camera. I find beauty in things, especially buildings, that I probably wouldn’t recognize if I wasn’t looking at them as a photographer. The best piece of advice I have ever received is not to give up. You have to be able to deal with rejection and have a thick skin in this business. Be sure you are passionate about your work. “If you’re willing to hear no so many times that it sounds like yes, then you will probably be successful.” Thanks Christy! This has been a part of Photography Week at Almost Fearless, a week long look at photography to go along with our announcement of Getting Out of Auto, by Bethany Salvon of Beers and Beans. With a BFA in photography, a 10+ year career as a professional photographer, and an awesome portfolio of photos from around the world, there is a lot you can learn about getting the most out of your camera with Getting Out of Auto. Thanks for reading! Also featured on Photography week: ![]() |
