I just got back Saturday from the North American Travel Journalist Association conference. It was the first time I had ever attended an event just for travel writers (TBEX not withstanding). One on the things that surprised me was just how old the average age of the attendees was. At a blogging conference I’m on the older end of the spectrum, but here I was easily one of the younger people.

I spoke on an All-Star pannel with Johnny Jet, Tim Leffel and Jen Miner about travel blogging. The reception seemed to be good, but it is hard to measure how much really sunk in or who will be albe to really implement changes (or who really wants to).

I was also able to visit Disneyland for the first time in my life. I have visited Disney World several times, but never Disneyland. Many of the rides at Disneyland seemed dated. The “It’s A Small World” ride seemed like it would have been cool….in the 60′s. The California Adventure park was far more interesting. The rides were newer and they are currently doing an expansion of the park which is scheduled to open in 2012. If I had to choose I’d still go to Disney World, but Disneyland was still worth the visit.

Actually, there is technically something wrong with the scientific definition used in the video. Not all tectonic plates are made of continental crust, which has a very different density (2.7g/cm3) than oceanic crust (3.3g/cm3).
