Thai Flying Lantern Festival (Yee Peng) Posted: 29 Oct 2011 09:50 AM PDT Weekly photo: Where is Cole? Location: Flying Lantern Release at Mae Jo University, Thailand Last year, we filmed this festival as part of the documentary that is sitting on our hard drives waiting to be edited (we’re getting to it, I swear). This year, I wanted to put the camera away and just enjoy it. I ended up snapping a few pics of Cole anyway, and I realized that despite the heat, the humidity and wrangling a toddler for four hours while waiting for the big moment, this is why I wanted to travel with a child. Watching Cole. In this moment. After this picture was taken, a Thai woman beside us, who had been watching Cole too, asked to hold him. After we passed him over, she talked to him in Thai, bounced him on her hip and smiled as she pointed to the lanterns floating away into the night. I uploaded some unedited photos from tonight to Facebook. I didn’t take many, but if you want to see more they are here.
