Weekly photo: Where is Cole?

Location: Chiang Mai, Thailand

We attended a two-year-old’s birthday party, and I’m pretty sure that Cole thinks the cake is for him.  When I saw this photo, snapped with our iPhone, I felt like I was seeing my son through someone else’s eyes.  He’s so big!  Who is this giant toddler, who stands up on his own and walks over to a cake, wanting to stick his fingers in it?  He’s a regular kid, at a birthday party.  It seems so normal, and it is!  Often people will tell me how lucky Cole is to get to travel so much, but sometimes I wonder if he’ll remember any of it, or worse if I’m somehow robbing him of a typical childhood.  But to him, I think, his life is just what it is.  And sometimes that means there’s cake, and candles and birthday balloons.  Other times there are monks and tuk-tuks and people talking in Thai.  He takes it all in stride.  His mother?  I’m still learning how to not worry so much.
