Work in Progress: The Best New Travel Blogs of 2011

Last year, I wrote a post called The Best of 2010: 100 Inspired Travel Blogs. I set up a Google Reader option that let you add all the blogs to your reader at once. I was thinking of doing something similar this year, but I quickly realized: there’s a lot of new blogs out there right now. Good ones. Interesting ones. The kind of stuff I would totally be reading, but I just haven’t found it yet.

So here’s where you come in… I’m looking for suggestions. It can be your site, a site you read, or something you just found. It has to be a travel blog (but it can lean into food, photography, lifestyle as long as there’s a travel theme). It should be new. Started in 2011. You can list as many as you want (in the comments below). There’s no bonus for being listed multiple times, so one submission is enough! There’s no voting, I’m just gathering a list. Then sometime in December, I’ll put together the top 100 — or at least my favorite 100. It gives me some time to follow each one and apply my highly unscientific evaluation criteria which mostly boils down to “things I think readers will like.” I know! It’s amazing that I haven’t patented this process yet. Don’t worry it’s in the works.

Anyway, it’s just for fun, and in the end, some cool new blogs will get highlighted, I’ll have some new sites to read and you’ll get a reading list, all tied up in a neat little package.  Just in time for December’s official holiday: surfing online all day in between office parties, looking up gift ideas online and pricing a quick flight to somewhere tropical.  Or at least that’s how I remember it.
